I used to have a Toshiba, Sony Viao, Dells...
I now have a Lenovo. They cost a bit more but they are totally worth it. If you can afford it, I highly recommend the thinkpad line. You can buy one directly from the lenovo website and have them build it to your specs. It's cheaper. They have sales and great service. I don't know a lot about computers so when I was ready to buy I went to the IT guys at work and this is what they recommended. ![]() Quote:

Yes, I can understand your concern. However, it is a very high-quality brand. Lenovo bought the product from IBM. I cannot recommend it highly enough. It's much better than the Toshiba that I used to own, or the Sony Vaio, or any of the Dells I've used.

I've had an HP, two Sony's, and a lenovo thinkpad.
Out of those, the thinkpad seems to be the best one, however the best out of three choices doesn't say much. Unless you're doing something hardcore with it, it really doesn't matter what brand you get. I would just get whichever one you can afford with maxed out ram (getting it with the maximum ram it can take, not just the amount of ram it comes with standard). Figure out which brand you can afford with maxed out ram, and then you're all good. The brand won't make much difference. Oh.............and solidarity bro about not buying apple products. Fuck apple. |

I have a Toshiba Satellite... It is FUCKING APPALLING. I have an old Toshiba from about 6 years ago that's better than the Satellite, and the Satellite is NEW. It LAGS PLAYING YOUTUBE VIDEOS!!!!!!
Also don't get Windows 8 because it's a shitty fucking Smart Phone esque operating system. Lol at touch screen based computing. Enjoy being huddled up to your monitor leaning over your desk all day whilst I'm chilling sitting back with my keyboard a comfortable distance away from the screen. Try to get a laptop with decent graphics, like a built in Nvidia or ATI... It's really worth it. Without that, you're severely limited as to what you can do. You'll struggle to play tetris on one of those disgraceful integrated Intel graphics chip.

. If all you do is pretty ms word and internet, then just get whatever one is in your price range that you like how it looks, and you'll be completely fine. Do you live near a walmart? If so, I would just go up there and get one. |

i've never tried it either. well, i did one time actually, but i had to partition my laptop because i needed actual microshit word for work, so it was just too much of an inconvenient clusterfuck and I gave up on it. but linux is free, so i'd give it a go on your current laptop. nothing to lose. if it works out, great. if it doesn't, then you can still buy a new laptop. |
